Analysing and Linking Relationships: Computer-Based Approaches to Inscriptions, Altars, and Monuments in the Spatial Context of Churches Scientifical studies of historical church rooms with their altars, monuments, and inscriptions have always been limited to the visual and textual level. Now the possibilities will be improuved by a computer based tool that allows an analysis of relationships of objects to their spatial context, visualizing their former position, drawing lines to related monuments, considering the former spectators point of view and showing related operations like liturgy and processions. The project by the name 'Inscriptions in Their Spatial Context' is going to be developed by the Academy of Sciences in Mainz and the i3mainz, Institute for Spatial Information- and Surveying-Technology.
